Synchronization for Broadcast and Multi-Media Infrastructure

The media creation and distribution industry is evolving from traditional broadcast network technologies to standard Ethernet and IP Networks.  The ubiquity and efficiency of ethernet lowers costs and enables remote editing, remote content collection, and collaborative work, but the network must simultaneously support a plethora of standards.  The resulting convergence of audio, video, telecom, and datacenter standards creates complex synchronization challenges.  We invite abstracts for presentations on:

  • Deployment challenges in combining mixed PTP and legacy timing systems
  • New technologies and ongoing standards development, including PTP profiles to accommodate multiple audio and video formats
  • Synchronization requirements to support remote sports & news collection and remote production
  • Challenges to support multi-format distribution & streaming infrastructure
  • Emerging applications that require fusing of live and computed video, such as VR, AR, and multi-player gaming
