Rubidium Atomic Clocks for Wireless Mobile (5G) and Test & Measurement Applications

Thursday | 11:10 - 11:30 am

Rubidium Atomic Oscillators have been an option in high-performance laboratory test equipment due to their accuracy and small size for decades. With the demanding timing requirements of next generation 5G mobile communication standards, Rubidium accuracy is increasingly in-demand for the 5G network infrastructure and portable test equipment used for installation and field service. In the absence of GPS timing, an Oscillator’s holdover capability in maintaining accurate phase and ToD information is critical to network characterization. This paper will discuss the implications for Rubidium and how to address the needs of portable applications.
